Our Mission

Rocky’s Rest Stop is here to help dogs and cats that are set to be euthanized.

We are a foster-based rescue helping these animals transition from being in kennels to being in homes. We hope we can establish a community where we can help all animals get the proper care they deserve. EIN is 99-0733342

Who We Are

Rocky’s Rest Stop is formed by a group of shelter volunteers who felt the need to do more. Our team met while volunteering at a local shelter. They formed a bond over helping many dogs and cats find foster homes and getting to know them beyond the bars. They have all worked and volunteered with shelters for the past 4 years or more. After years of trying to help animals and dealing with roadblocks, since they are not a rescue, they decided to form one.

Our Mascot

In 2022, our mascot Rocky was set to be euthanized due to “being aggressive” towards other dogs - according to a kennel attendant. Rocky had just gotten back to a kennel environment after being in foster care for over 3 months and his foster stated he never saw any of these issues while in his care and was shocked this was set to happen. Dominique then decided to take Rocky to foster and slowly introduced her dog to him, but they hit it off almost instantly. Eventually Rocky became a part of the family and helped inspire Rocky’s Rest Stop.
